The Last Supper Experience: exclusive interactive workshop + visit to the Last Supper
Experience the Last Supper like never before with our unique Last Supper Experience where YOU will be recreating Leonardo da Vinci´s masterwork. Our experience is composed of three parts: a workshop, a walk and an exclusive visit to the Last Supper.
1) The Workshop
Our experience will start at our cultural centre Art in the City, a cozy and creative place located straight in the heart of Milan, only 10 minutes walk from the Duomo (directions). There you will have an interactive learning session about the Last Supper in order to understand first-hand the secrets of composition, lighting and painting technique of Leonardo da Vinci, by re-enacting the Last Supper with the guidance of our specialized art instructors.
2) The Walk
After this fun-packed hands-on introduction (which does not require any artistic ability from you) our guide will take you to the Last Supper with a short 20-minutes walk through the historical center of Milan. During this walk through some of the most atmospheric narrow streets of Milan you will discover some hidden pearls, often overlooked by tourists:
- the impressive remains of the Roman Circus, dating back when Milan was the capital of the western Roman Empire
- the marvellous church of S.Ambrogio, a jewel of Romanesque architecture and one of the oldest churches of Milan
- the site where the Italian celebrated poet Petrarch used to live
- the real-size reconstruction of the Middle Age fortified gates of Milan
- and, finally, the S.Maria delle Grazie Church a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture by Donato Bramante
3) The Last Supper
The experience will end with one of the most celebrated masterworks of all times: the Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci. Without any queue you´ll be able to stand in front of it for 15 minutes (the maximum time allowed by Italian authorities for conservation reasons), just your group and the painting, without crowd or fuss. You will see that after our in-depth interactive introduction you will experience the Last Supper like no one else, and really get to appreciate its multiple layers of meaning.
It´s more than a guided tour. It´s an Art Experience!
Our guide/instructors
The whole art experience is led by one of our Art Instructors. They are at the same time very fluent in English (often mother-tongue), passionate about art and experts in adult learning. We put an extra care in selecting the best instructors because we know they make the difference. Practical Info
- The Last Supper Experience will last 2 hours and 30 min from 4pm to 6.30 pm.
- The meeting point is at 4pm at our venue "Art in the City" in Via Medici 15, near via Torino, 10- minute walk from the Duomo. You can get there by Metro (lines 1 and 3 getting off at Duomo stop, line 2 getting off at S.Ambrogio station) or by tram (lines 2, 3 and 14 - Via Torino Via S.Maria Valle stop).
- The experience includes: an interactive learning workshop in our venue (about 1h) - a 40- minute guided walk through Milan to the Last Supper Site - 15-minute visit to the Last Supper - time for final questions and answers.
- For groups larger than 15 people we will provide radio headsets to help listening.
- Maximum group size is 25 people.
- The tour ends at the Last Supper site, Piazza S.Maria delle Grazie, from where the guide can direct you towards your hotel or the nearest metro station (Conciliazione M1).
